VALA IS
BACK FOR SEASON 10!!!!
She walked through the
stargate like a woman on a mission.
With her first uttered
words of "Where's my Daniel?" this remarkable character became part of
the Stargate SG-1 legend.
For many fans, Vala Mal Doran has
become the most vibrant addition to the SG-1 team since Jack O'Neill walked
through the Abydonian gate and was greeted by Daniel Jackson's "Hi, Jack."
Vala's time on SG-1 was brief but
enjoyed, both memorable and indelible. She brought a new life to the tale, and a
great many fans responded.
As of 8/21, the
Sci-Fi channel has cancelled Stargate SG1! They will air the rest of the
episodes for Season 10, but there will be NO season 11. Do you want to continue seeing Vala after season 10 is over? Please click

What are some of the fans saying?
"I was so happy to see
that despite my misgivings that the introduction of Ben Browder
and Claudia Black has been a breath of fresh air. The
possibilities of the new dynamics with the second SG1 team has
added long overdue humor and flexability. Ms Black can all by
herself stimulate and encourage potential growth from each
character. I was a fan of Farscape and have always been a fan of
Stargate Sg1.
With the wonderful new additions I look forward to a fresh new
season! I really want to see the female side of the team be
central to some of the new stories!
Awesome job in casting!" - Lisa "In all honesty I was very wary of Season
9, what with RDA leaving, and so many new characters being
introduced, but I LOVE IT!!
Claudia is amazing as Vala and I think she is a wonderful
actress, bringing the vibrance of Vala to life amazingly well.
I will miss Vala when she's gone (We still have her here... I'm
in the UK) and I dearly hope she comes back as a permanent
member of the SGC. She is fabulous! " -Bec
"I've been a fan of Claudia Black ever since
Farscape aired. To have seen both her and Ben Browder on the
same show again is wonderful (Love him too!). I really enjoyed
the dynamics between Vala and Daniel, their relationship was
like a breath of fresh air that brought me back as a viewer. I
truly hope to see more of her sassiness in Season 10; simply
put...Vala is a character worth developing! PLEASE BRING HER
BACK!!!" -Angie
"Stargate is a better show for having Vala in it. Claudia is an
amazing actress and she's endeared the character to a lot of us.
I know she'll be back before the end of season nine, and if
there's a season ten I'd love to see her as a regular."

"There was some concern that well, they were both
characters from Farscape, and that could be
problematic. We brought in Ben [as a regular] and
then Claudia as the Vala character for a six episode
arc. As it turned out, surprise, surprise [laughs]
to everybody but the writers - even though Ben and
Claudia had been on Farscape, their characters here
were completely different, especially in the case of
Claudia. As I pointed out on one of my blog entries,
she was essentially the straight woman in Farscape.
Here, she was the loose cannon, and once we'd
finished the first six episode arc (which some fans
call the 'mini-series'), where we introduced the new
villain, the new characters, a new general in the
form of General Landry - it just gelled so well. To
use a bad TV term, it 'popped.' So we realized that
we had to find a way to bring Claudia back [again]."
- J. Mallozzi interview in Stargate & Atlantis
Official Magazine Yearbook, March/April 2006
"[Vala] is such fun, and Claudia
plays her so beautifully. To be honest, after I
watched one of the early episodes from [Season 9], I
was actually worried that audiences would embrace
Vala so much that when I came back they’d do, ‘Oh
no, not boring Sam Carter again. We like that cool
Vala character, Keep her around instead.
...Claudia was so supportive when I came back to
work….when she left I was like, ‘Please, let her stay.
She’s smart, funny and another girl. Why can’t there be
two of us on the team?’ I’m hoping they bring Vala back
as I’d love to work with Claudia again." Amanda

"Personally, I think she's a terrific character.
She's roguishly-wicked, funny, and impossible to pin
down. There's no knowing whether she has a hidden
agenda or what her true motives are - but, despite
all that, there's the sense that she is a good
person at heart. In short - she's a blast to write
for." J. Mallozzi

"Claudia is the first
actor I’ve met whose brain actually operates at the same
speed as mine. Scary, huh?” laughs Shanks. “Working with
her on Prometheus Unbound was a gift, and a real
blessing to meet someone who’s a true touchstone in many
different ways. “Obviously, having Claudia back this
year was a treat. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled and
laughed quite so much on this show. Claudia brings so
many ideas to the table all the time. When it comes to
our two characters, we see them as having a sort of
Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn dynamic, not so much of
tension but rather constant antagonism. Their bickering
leads to a lot of comedy and always spices up dull
exposition scenes. Vala brings out a side of Daniel that
I hadn’t really had the chance to play before. She
pushes certain buttons on him that no one else is able
to, and I just love that.” Michael Shanks' interview in TV Zone
Special #64
"She's not only reinvigorated
my passion for doing this show, she's actually
reinvigorated my passion for acting, period. The
day that we worked together I thought was such a
unique treat, I thought it must have been, you
know, such an absurd thing for me, and then to
have that reciprocated, and then have our
working relationship sort of blossom into a full
time thing is sort of like, it's kismet in a
way. I'm very appreciative and blessed to be
working with this lady over here.". Michael
Shanks, Hypagate 2006.
